From the Author: Obviously 2020 has been a difficult and challenging time for our country, communities, families, and ministries. For many years, CTA’s July newsletters were dedicated to bringing smiles and laughter as a new season of ministry waits around the corner. I’ve felt uneasy about writing such a newsletter this year. Please don’t mistake the light-heartedness below as a lack of seriousness or concern for so many who are hurting. The heartbeat of this company is encouraging people in a loving, Christ-centered, Scripture-based way – bringing Christ to all. I pray that the humor and ideas below provide an ointment of joy amidst the hurts, if even for a moment. May the following messages from a variety of sources bring some smiles to your faces as you minister to children and families during this difficult time.
- The fact that Head & Shoulders doesn’t have a body wash called Knees & Toes disappoints me.
- The reopening of Lego stores was a big event this summer. People were lined up for blocks.
- I heard my kids talking about how weird their teacher is. I’m their teacher.
- I hurt my kids’ feelings when they heard me on the phone trying to get them transferred out of my home-school class.
- 57% of parents homeschooling their 5-year-olds said they had no idea kindergarten was more than just arts and crafts.
- One family’s homeschool curriculum included a lecture series titled “Yes, You Still Have to Brush Your Teeth Even Though We Aren’t Going Anywhere.”
- Discussion on a parent-teacher Zoom meeting: How do kids survive regular school without 23 snacks?
Which of those was your favorite? Do you have some other lines, tweets, or memes that made you laugh in 2020? What are some of your Bible “one-liners” (verses) that helped you get through the first half of 2020?
